SINGAPORE, 30 October 2018 – On 29 October, AIG Asia Pacific was honored to be named General Insurance Company of the Year at the prestigious 22nd Asia Insurance Industry Awards at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Now in its 22nd year, the Asia Insurance Industry Awards has become a much sought-after mark of excellence and peer group endorsement for insurance players and professionals in the market1. The award for General Insurance Company of the Year recognizes outstanding performance in the area of general insurance through product innovation, dealing with customers and intermediaries, and business growth2.
Accepting the award, Claudia Salem, CEO of AIG Asia Pacific Insurance Pte. Ltd. (AIG Singapore) and Head of Country Operations Southeast Asia said:

Attending the awards ceremony was AIG’s President & CEO, Brian Duperreault and Claudia Salem, who were accompanied by Kean Driscoll, CEO Validus Re and Marc Haushofer, Executive Vice President & CEO Asia Pacific Validus Re, as well as senior executives from AIG Singapore’s esteemed clients and partners. Tony McHarg, Head of AIG Multinational and Network Partner Practice for Asia Pacific, was also in attendance and hosted a number of AIG’s key network partners.
During the evening, Mr Duperreault presented the award for Corporate Risk Manager of the Year to Mr Daniel Tan Kuan Wei from National University Health System. AIG has sponsored this award for several years to acknowledge the importance of risk management professionals and their outstanding contribution to the insurance industry. AIG would like to congratulate all of this year’s nominees.
In recognition of his outstanding performance, Manik Bucha, Head of Individual Personal Insurance at AIG Singapore, was a finalist for Young Leader of the Year. Manik’s achievements of driving profitable growth and for being a strong advocate for modernizing the insurance industry led to his coveted nomination.
