This policy is protected under the Policy Owners’ Protection Scheme which is administered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation (SDIC). Coverage for your policy is automatic and no further action is required from you. You must be departing from Singapore and be ordinarily resident in Singapore.
Travel Guard Direct is for travellers of all ages, with no age limit.
If you travel frequently, consider purchasing an Annual Multi-Trip Plan for greater value and convenience.
You get:
- Cover for an unlimited number of overseas trips within the policy year (for trips of less than 90 consecutive days each).
- Immediate coverage when you travel, without the hassle of purchasing a plan each time.
- Choice of individual and family plans.
Note: The Family Annual Multi-Trip Plan is for you plus your spouse named in the policy schedule and your children. During the policy period, coverage will apply to you and your spouse whilst travelling independently. However, your children must be travelling with you or your spouse on the same itinerary.
The maximum period of coverage for an overseas trip is:
- For Return Single-Trip Plan: 182 consecutive days.
- For One-Way Single-Trip Plan: one trip during the policy period and ending one you arrive at your first overseas destination (excluding transit countries).
- For Annual Multi-Trip Plan: 90 consecutive days for each overseas trip.
General exclusions include any loss, injury, damage or legal liability arising from:
- Any pre-existing medical conditions, except for repatriation of mortal remains or funeral expenses overseas due to existing health conditions.
- Participation in extreme sports and sporting activities.
- Participation in expeditions, manual work, missionary and humanitarian travel.
- When you are travelling against the advice of a medical practitioner.
- Any travel in, to, or through Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, or the Crimea region.

FAQ – Travel Insurance Policy Changes
As travel restrictions and measures remain dynamic, we understand that your travel plans may change too. To offer greater flexibility, all AIG’s Travel Guard® and Travel Guard® Direct policyholders will be able to make changes to their policies via AIG’s self-help online portal.
How can I make changes to my Travel Guard® and Travel Guard® Direct insurance policy?
You can make certain changes to your travel insurance policy via AIG’s self-help online portal.
Single Trip Policies
When can I make changes to my single trip travel insurance policy?
Changes to your travel insurance policy can be made any time before your policy effective date.
Am I allowed to make any changes to my single trip travel insurance policy after submitting a claim?
Changes cannot be made to your travel insurance policy if claims have been submitted (approved or pending).
I have to postpone my trip to a later date. Am I allowed to change the travel dates of my single trip insurance policy that was already purchased and issued?
Yes, you can change your travel dates via AIG’s self-help online portal. If the duration of your trip, trip destination, number of travellers and age of the travellers remains the same, changing your travel dates will be free of charge if it’s made before your policy effective date.
I have to extend my trip by 3 days. Am I allowed to extend my single trip insurance policy that was already purchased and issued?
Yes, you can extend your trip via AIG’s self-help online portal. However, please note that you may be required to pay additional premium.
Am I allowed to make changes to my travel destination for my single trip insurance policy online?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to change your travel destination online. Please contact our Customer Service Centre at +65 6419 3000 if you need to change your travel destination for your single trip policy.
Annual Policies
Am I allowed to make changes to my annual policy?
You may upgrade the Region of travel under your annual policy via AIG’s self-help online portal. Please note that you may be required to pay additional premium. However, for any other changes or enquiries, please contact our Customer Service Centre at +65 6419 3000.
